College of Arts and Sciences Celebrates Student Achievement on Honors Day 2025

May 23, 2025

The College of Arts and Sciences celebrated Honors Day on Tuesday, May 20. This annual event gives our faculty, staff and alumni an opportunity to honor our students’ achievements in the classroom, lab and community.

Over 80 students were recognized with awards at this year’s Honors Day, underscoring the value of the scholarship and research students conduct in the college year after year. All students who received awards have maintained impressive records that set them apart from their peers. Honors are awarded on a range of criteria including academic achievement, research, student participation, community engagement, mentorship, essay submission and outstanding personal character.

“This has easily become one of my favorite traditions here at the college because we get to celebrate the academic achievements of our most accomplished students,” said Dean David Brown, PhD. “These students have proven that they are dedicated to their studies through scholarship and research, and we are proud to honor them for being leaders in their fields, engaging their communities and taking action towards positive change.”

This year’s featured awards include the Dr. Robert C. Busby Endowed Award for Mathematics, awarded to Jason Gordon; The Cannone Family Scholarship in Communications, awarded to Susanna Lee and the Mary K. Howett Memorial Scholarship, awarded to Anna Desch and Maya Toib. We thank our donors for their generosity, partnership and belief in our students.

Congratulations to all of our student honorees! See the full list of awards and honorees below.
