2025 Patent Law Interview Program

The Loyola Patent Law Interview Program is a two-day interview program held each year that brings together patent law employers and law students from across the country to interview for summer associate positions and post-graduate employment.

Dear 1L/2L Students with an interest in IP, IP Concentrators and IP Law Society Leaders,

The 2025 Patent Law Interview Program will be held virtually and take place on Thursday & Friday, June 5 and 6, 2025.

The Loyola Patent Law Interview Program is a two-day interview program held each year that brings together patent law employers and law students from across the country to interview for summer associate positions and post-graduate employment.

Most participating employers are seeking patent bar eligible students. Students with undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering or a technical science should consider registering for the program. For more information on eligibility for the patent bar, please refer to the General Requirements Bulletin from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Each year over 1,000 law students register for the program, submit their application materials, and apply for interviews with the nation-wide employers that interest them. The program is entirely employer selected - which means that participating employers review the materials submitted to them and choose the law students they are interested in interviewing at the program. Roughly half of the students registered for the program are selected for interviews each year.

More information can be found here, including a list of last year’s participating employers.

Eligibility

Only law students are eligible to participate in the Patent Law Interview Program. Law graduates and practicing attorneys are not eligible to participate:

  • JD students graduating in May 2026 (Rising 3Ls)
  • JD students graduating in May 2027 (Rising 2Ls)
  • JD students graduating in December 2025 (Rising 3Ls)
  • JD students graduating in December 2026 (Rising 2Ls)

Registration by April 15, 2025 is required. Please email Amanda Young if you are interested in participating. CSO will coordinate registration and payment for eligible Drexel students.

CSO advisors are here to help! Please reach out with any questions.

Co-op Program Update

Faculty recently voted to approve paid co-ops. This means that students can now receive pay and course credits for co-op work. We have notified our co-op partners about this program update. While the policy does not require partners to offer pay, we anticipate that some of them will start offering paid co-ops. Paid positions, if any, are indicated as such on Teams. Positions not specifically indicated as paid are unpaid.

We are in the process of updating our internal systems to reflect this program update and expect that it will take some time for all the positions to populate the Teams page. While the positions are gradually populating on Teams, you may wish to answer Question #15 in the application that asks you to rank positions with “will discuss with Professor Parambath during co-op conference.” During our one-on-one co-op conference, we can explore positions that best fit your academic goals and can generate a rank list accordingly.

Drexel Kline Plaintiffs' Law Association (DPLA) Toiletry Drive

WRAP Court needs donations for the hygiene cart, and, as an added incentive, local law schools are competing against each other to see who can get the most donors (so the most individuals donating, not the most items). The winning school and organization putting the drive together will get shout-outs and prizes!

WRAP Court Toiletry Drive

Background on the Cause

WRAP Court (Working to Restore Adolescents’ Power) was created in 2015 in response to PA’s lack of safe harbor legislation. It is aimed at helping children and young people who are at risk of or are victims of commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking, and who come through the court system due to delinquency or dependency matters.

Often, youths in WRAP Court lack stability and move around a lot, which means they lose access to basic essentials. As costs for daily living are consistently increasing, Judge Kristiansson of WRAP Court has started a hygiene cart for her courtroom, which youths can take from as needed. The Support Center for Child Advocates is helping to organize a toiletry drive to gather necessary items for these young people.

Where Drexel Kline Law Students Come In

WRAP Court needs donations for the hygiene cart, and, as an added incentive, local law schools are competing against each other to see who can get the most donors (so the most individuals donating, not the most items). The winning school and organization putting the drive together will get shout-outs and prizes!

We are competing against Temple, Villanova, UPenn, Rutgers, and Penn State.

Items Needed

  • Oral hygiene (toothpaste, floss, toothbrushes, mouthwash)
  • Feminine hygiene (pads, tampons, diva cups)
  • Socks (warm, men’s and women’s)
  • Hair Products (brushes, combs, picks, shampoo/conditioner, oils, dry shampoo, hair ties/clips, styling products, hair wraps, and shower caps)

  • Body sprays and perfume
  • Deodorant, soaps, hand sanitizer, body washes
  • Makeup, nail polish
  • Face wash, makeup remover, toner, face masks

How to Donate

Who Can Donate?

Laurie Besden, Esq., Executive Director of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL) of PA, will be available for virtual one-on-one sessions on Monday, March 3rd via Zoom. Students who would like to request a confidential meeting with Laurie should sign up here.

Laurie offers confidential, discreet, and private sessions to discuss any type of addiction, alcohol issues, mental health disorders, stress, or depression – about yourself or others for whom you are concerned. She can also provide literature or other resources to address any ethical or bar application-related questions. All communications are confidential, and there is no record of the time with her. Other than communicating Laurie’s availability, no member of the law school administration is involved.

LCL is a non-profit, completely confidential resource that helps lawyers and law students who are dealing with issues related to alcohol, drugs, depression, and other serious emotional challenges. Left untreated, these conditions will sabotage a student's law school performance and jeopardize their admission to the bar. If you or someone you care about has any related concerns, please schedule a confidential chat with Laurie, or use LCL’s 24/7/365 hotline at 1-888-999-1941.

Laurie Besden, Esq., Executive Director of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL) of PA, will be available for virtual one-on-one sessions on Wednesday, November 13, via Zoom. Sign up for a confidential meeting with Laurie.
